Premack Principles/Life Rewards [1]

Premack principals is also known as Life Rewards. Great way to wean off of treats.

Premack is getting the dog to do ‘what it doesn’t want to do’, in order to do ‘whtt the dog does want to do’. Example: Dog leaving a dog play session, going to the owner (dog doesn’t want to do), in order to be allowed to go play again (dog wants to do).

Fido wants to go outside … Fido needs to sit at the door until released through

Fido wants to sleep in the bed … Fido needs to sit until asked to com up.

Fido wants to sit and look out the window … Fido needs to be calm and quiet.

Fido wants to go swim in the pond … Fido needs to walk on a loose leash to get there.

Fido wants to sniff … Fido needs to walk nice on the leash.

Fido wants to play with friends … Fido needs to come when called.

Fido wants to go for a car ride … Fido needs to be in a down wait until mom is ready.

Fido wants to continue walking … Fido has to first stop pulling.

Fido wants to greet company … Fido first needs to settle (stop barking, whining, jumping, etc.)

Fido sits in his dinner waiting place and Fido gets a green bean at the end of the meal.

Fido completes a 30 second training session … Fido gets a fetch game.

Fido does a trick … Fido gets a hug.

Fido wants to join me on the couch … Fido sits first.

Fido wants to play tug … Fido needs to release the tug toy to start the game again.

Fido wants the ball thrown …. Fido needs to sit first.

Fido wants to go for a walk …. Fido has to sit to get the leash on.
